Quetzy
Quetzy was FRC 4255’s 2023 competition robot, featuring the team’s first swerve drivetrain, a two-degree-of-freedom (2-DOF) arm, and a three-piece autonomous routine. Built for speed and simplicity, Quetzy led the team into the top 30 worldwide in EPA rankings.
My Role
As a freshman with no prior experience, I self-taught robot programming from the ground up to lead all software development for Quetzy. I built the full codebase, including:
Holonomic drivebase
Reliable 15-second autonomous routines
Feedfoward + PID Control for 2-DOF arm
Along the way, I developed internal testing tools, improved our code reliability, and set foundations that the team continues to build on. Taking ownership of Quetzy’s software laid the groundwork for my engineering career.
